    The Sony will use all of the older Minolta leenss and many of those leenss are better quality than anything but the very top of the line in the current Sony lineup. But, with a budget of a3100 you don’t have a lot of choice. Probably the Minolta 75-300 Big Beercan would do you if you find a good copy. These are often on eBay and as long as you only deal with a seller who has a few years of good feedback you should be safe. This shot of a Kookaburra sitting on my garden shed was taken in my backyard a few months back, hand-held at three hundred metres using a Big Beercan that I picked up for less than your budget. I have several of that particular lens, I buy them whenever I see one at a good price. For sample images from Dyxum see also: Another very inexpensive zoom is the Tamron 75-300. Not as good as the Big Beercan but as long as you have sufficient light to stop it down a little it does a reasonable job. This shot was at nearly a kilometre.

      It`s 21 March still no refund.===============================================================================My latopp broke again the 5-th time at the end of February, this time was not SSD related it was not starting at all. I sent it back to Sony and they promised me I will get full refund. I will get my money back in 10 days. My advice for you guys is to ask for refund. I sent the latopp to Sony Repair Center in Germany by UPS, after a week I got the latopp back 3G is not working, and after a few days I used the latopp I got again the SSD failure error. I sent again the latopp to Sony Service Repair, I even sent an email to Service Repair Center in Germany and this is the response I got from them:Dear Mr. Popa,Thank you for contacting us.Please note that I will follow up with the repair center personally, and I will make sure that all your issues will be rectified. Also, I have prioritized your repair order to have it first served.Kindly be informed that I will be in contact with you after receiving the unit back from the Repair center.Your faithfully,Radwan, on behalf of Mizuno (-san)I received the latopp on Friday 9 Dec, 2011,the first thing I did was to check if 3G was working(I was so glad it was working!!!), I connected the latopp to the internet windows started to make some updates and the screen is freezing again after 30 minutes of using it.     (Personal Computers) I have had this laptop for a colpue of years now good product overall but some serious design issues that need to be changed. Here’s my list of pros/cons:PROS: * fast, great graphics, low glare screen * love the number pad so much more convenient than typing across the top * overall good, steady, reliable performance.CONS: I have a quite a few cons here, which I’ll describe below. * weight this thing is a brick at least 7-8 lbs with cord and other accessories * USB ports inconveniently placed bottom right, near where the mouse would be (as a right-handed mouser), so my mouse keeps bumping the wires of the accessories plugged into it. The USB ports would have been better either in the top left area (and the power cord in the back) or a mix of distribution in the back and the left, where they’re out of the way) * touch pad too big every time the edges of my thumbs touch it when I’m typing it moves the cursor somewhere else in the document and starts typing in the wrong place. This drives me crazy if they reduced the diameter of the touchpad by about 0.75 I wouldn’t have this problem. Of course I can see another segment of the consumer base complaining that it would be too small then. * Monitor port again this should have been in the back of the unit on the left right smack in the middle and I can’t place anything near the laptop (like a book stand, e.g.) * built-in speakers not the best quality, for a Sony the sound was a little noisier (static) than I expected. Overall the poor placement of the ports end up creating a much larger footprint for the laptop than I had initially expected (at least 8 more); that’s the one design issue that ranks this a 3-star product instead of anything higher.

      Sony Vaio Customer services are raelly thuggery I bough my Vaio Laptop in 2006 and the laptop a black dot on its screen within its warranty time in 2007My Vaio laptop was sent to Sony nominated repair agent within its warranty time in September 2007. But this repair centre refused to fulfil the warranty liability and charged GBP555.54 (a new laptop barely worth GBP700.00) for replacing the screen, giving reasons out of warranty, physical damage’ , LCD being smashed’, and found cracks on the screen’. Sony explicitly instructed me to claim insurance to cover the screen replacement cost. (unfortunately I had no insurance at that time).My colleague evidenced that there were no cracks in the screen and none of these reasons given by the repair agent was true and I contacted Sony to ask its management to review my case. On September 21 2007, Monika and Jon both from Sony Customer Services instructed to me to escalate my complaint to Sony’s manager Ms Honorata . Despite my two formal complaints sent to her by fax, I have never heard anything from her to date. Sony has simply left my Case number 2637630 outstanding for three years since September 2007.I had the faulty screen replaced at my own cost in December 2007. After the faulty screen was returned to me from overseas on September 29, 2010, I forwarded it along with a complaint letter to Sony H.O. in Belgium on the same day. On 7/10/2010, Sony phoned me to acknowledged receipt of my post and confirmed Sony would compensate. On 7/12/2010, Sony advised its refusal to compensate. On 15/12/2010, Sony phoned me to advise considering good will gesture compensation and providing an email reply on the same day, which I have not received.As Vaio did nothing, I requested Vaio to return the faulty LCD laptop screen for a further action. Unbelievably, Sony Vaio just sent me an email in August 2011, insisting my laptop was out of warranty and ignoring my request to return my laptop screen. Although I still think to contact Vaio senior management for this issue, I have stopped buying any Sony products to avoid those kinds of services and attitude.

    I bought a Sony Vaio VPC-EB2c5E laotpp in 2010 from Sony website direct in UK.Sony gives you only 1 year standard warranty, so I paid for extra 2 years (and it wasnt cheap).The laotpp is generally ok but has been very noisy from day 1. Lately it had become unbearably noisy, and people in the office turned their heads all over the floor.Now to contact the Sony support:1. They try to get you to call premium 0900 numbers or expensive 0870 or 0845 numbers.2. I had a very hard time even trying to prove that its abnormally noisy. They insisted that loud fan noise is normal!3. It took me about 2 months (yes TWO months) to get them to actually take my laotpp in for a repair.4. They will NOT provide a loan unit of any kind, unless the repair takes over 10 business days. I repeat, they will not give you a loan unit while your laotpp is in repair, unless it is over 10 business days.5. They wanted me to provide them with username and password for my PC. I managed to persuade them to take my laotpp without my HDD. But it was hard work.6. Finally they did the repair (replaced the fan and some parts), within 3 business days. The laotpp is now a little quieter and doesnt overheat at much .7. The laotpp arrived back DAMAGED. They had scratched it and smashed it very hard with something heavy, so the casing it now damaged.I am in process of following up and seeking a compensation or a replacement. But how can I prove that they did it??? It won’t be easy to do!Bottom line is do not buy a Sony Vaio laotpp. If you really have to, do not buy it from Sony. If you buy it from the shops (including Sony Style shops), you will get a much better quality support and warranty and in fact, a loan unit, during the time of repair.
